Training sessions continue for the implementation of the Common Transit System (NCTS) with the EU

Tirana, 15 June 2026 – As part of the implementation of the project for the Common Transit System with the European Union (NCTS – New Computerised Transit System), dedicated training sessions are being conducted with system users. These activities involve representatives of the company responsible for system development, members of the working group, the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), and the international expert engaged within the framework of the project.

The training sessions focus on introducing and providing practical use of the NCTS modules, with the aim of familiarising users with the new functionalities, discussing technical and procedural matters, and coordinating the actions necessary for the successful implementation of the system.

NCTS represents one of the most significant modernisation initiatives in the field of customs transit, enabling real-time electronic exchange of data between European customs administrations and economic operators. The system brings substantial improvements in the efficiency of transit procedures, reduces paper-based documentation, increases transparency and traceability of goods movement, and accelerates the processing of transit declarations.

One of the key innovations introduced by NCTS is the automation of communication and transit management processes through standardised electronic messages, reducing manual intervention and strengthening data security. In addition, the system creates greater opportunities for risk management and effective monitoring of transit operations in line with European standards.

The delivery of these training sessions marks an important step in preparing the customs administration and the business community for the full use of the system, ensuring a successful transition towards modern and digitalised transit procedures. The implementation of NCTS is also of particular importance within the European integration process, as it constitutes one of the key requirements for accession to the Common Transit Convention and for aligning customs procedures with European Union standards.

The operationalisation of this system will facilitate the international movement of goods, strengthen cooperation with partner customs administrations, and further align Albania with the practices and mechanisms of the European common market.
