Tirana, 03.04.2026 – The Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, conducted a working visit to Vlora Customs as part of on-site monitoring of the functioning of customs structures and strengthening service standards.
During the visit, the Director General reviewed the progress of operational processes, flow management, and the implementation of customs procedures at this key point for economic and trade activity in the southern part of the country. Particular attention was also paid to interinstitutional cooperation and the role of Customs in ensuring security and facilitating trade.
As part of the agenda, a visit was carried out to the Vlora Petrolifera area, where the Director General was informed about operational practices, control of energy products, and measures taken to prevent evasion and abuses in this strategically important sector. The importance of strengthening control mechanisms and the use of technology for more efficient monitoring of activities was emphasized.
In the context of preparations for the tourist season, discussions also covered the specific measures taken each year in Vlora to handle increased flows of passengers and goods. The importance of increasing operational capacities, optimizing procedures, and ensuring fast and high-quality service while maintaining control and security standards was highlighted. In this regard, maximum commitment from local structures was requested for close coordination and timely response to any situation that may arise during the peak tourist period.
During the meeting with local customs staff, the Director General praised their commitment and professionalism in fulfilling their duties, emphasizing that fieldwork remains essential for achieving institutional objectives. He highlighted the need for continuity in the correct implementation of procedures, increased transparency, and further improvement of communication with businesses.
