Tirana, 09.04.2026 – The General Directorate of Customs and the Defense Industry Agency signed a cooperation agreement today, marking an important step towards strengthening interinstitutional cooperation and enhancing coordination in the exercise of their respective functions.
The agreement was signed by the Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, and the Director General of the Defense Industry Agency, Dorian Tola, who highlighted the importance of this cooperation as a concrete instrument for increasing efficiency and strengthening coordination mechanisms between institutions.
The agreement aims to establish a clear framework of cooperation between the two institutions for the implementation of the applicable legislation related to the import of goods exempt from customs duties, which are directly used in the production of military armaments. In this context, it foresees the strengthening of information exchange, as well as the coordination of actions for the identification, verification, and control of such goods, in accordance with the legal competencies of each party.
The signing of this agreement represents a shared commitment to raising institutional standards, strengthening cooperation, and ensuring more effective and accountable administration in areas of particular importance.
