The Albanian Customs Administration has as its priority the facilitation of business procedures, thus contributing to the economic growth of the country. To serve to this purpose, the General Director of Albanian Customs, Mrs. Belinda Ikonomi, held a meeting with the General Director of Customs of Macedonia, Gjoko Tanasoski. The meeting took place in Kafasan-Qafe Thane BCP.
During the meeting, ACA representatives were known with the EXIM system, an electronic system used by 16 institutions covering the foreign trade competences, a contemporary system for import, export and transit licenses and tariff quotas.
Through EXIM, economic operators can electronically apply for import, export and transit permits and electronically obtain licenses and permits from competent institutions. This arrangement has been applied by the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia since 2008.
The implementation of this system in our country will facilitate the Customs procedures for business as well as strengthening the cooperation between Law Enforcement Agencies at the border, such as the National Food Authority (AKU) The Head of AKU, Mr. Agim Ismailaj, was present at this meeting with the Macedonian counterpart.
During the meeting, representatives of Macedonian and Albanian Customs had an opportunity to inspect the construction works at the new terminal at the Kafasan-Qafë Thanë Border Point, which is planned to be used by both Customs Services in the future.
