To protect the Customers, Customs on Europe Day

Within the framework of 9th of May, Day of Europe, representatives of different units of the Albanian Customs Administration joined the "EU Village" which was opened in "Skanderbeg" Square, with the support of the EU Delegation in Tirana.

Beside the assistance to people, agriculture, environment, culture, education and the economy, a special stand was dedicated to Customs. In addition to the exposure of one of the vehicles donated by EU funds to Anti-Smuggling Directorate of Customs, attention was drawn to the stand set up by the Directorate for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights.

So to enable the protection of Intellectual Property Rights and to achieve the same level of protection as in European Union countries, different citizens are often alerted abouit the protection of customers and public health  from counterfeited/piracy goods, the consequences they cause and the loss of revenues for the state budget, resulting from goods infringing an Intellectual Property Right.

For this purpose, many counterfeited goods that the Customs Administration has seized, were exhibited and presented to the citizens to warn them for the danger of their consumption. These are non-food goods coming from different countries.

Trade in our country is already opened and the EU countries occupy the main share. The European Union is the union of 500 million citizens, the world's largest economy, with an annual GDP of 14 trillion euros. It is the world's largest trading block, the leading trade partner of 80 countries, the world's largest donor of development assistance and humanitarian aid.
