Bilateral Meeting between Customs Administrations of Albania and Turkey

On 15th – 16th of February 2018, it was held a Bilateral Meeting between the Delegations of the General Directorate of Customs of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey, chaired by Mrs. Belinda IKONOMI and Mr. Cenap AŞCI, General Director of Turkish Customs.

This meeting strengthened the very good existing relations between the two Institutions, by recognizing the importance of the Customs role in responding to rapid changes in the international trade environment and security issues.

In the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of a Joint Committee on Customs Matters, signed on 4th of April 2016, it was held the first meeting of this Committee with a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. Both delegations expressed their availability to assign concrete contact points for a rapid and more effective exchange of information and more productive results.

The two Customs Delegations agreed to hold Joint Operations and assist each other in the fight against trafficking and smuggling.
