The General Director of Customs, Mrs. Belinda IKONOMI attended the First Global Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference on 9th – 10th of February 2018 held in Beijing, China.
This Conference brought together high-level policy and decision makers (heads of organizations), as well as operational experts, from Customs administrations, other government agencies, E-Commerce operators, international organizations, regional economic communities, academia and other stakeholders in the cross-border E-Commerce supply chain.
With the theme “An innovative, inclusive, strategic and collaborative approach to sustainable cross-border E-Commerce”, this Conference was focused on the key principles and effective management models that conform to the development of cross-border E-Commerce, reflected views and suggestions from diverse perspectives on Customs facilitation and control measures, and put forward collaborative solutions for addressing challenges relating to trade facilitation of growing volumes, safety and security, and the collection of duties and taxes.
During this event, Mrs. IKONOMI held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Li GUO, Deputy Minister of Chinese Customs, where it was appreciated the importance of the Agreement signed in November 2017 between the General Directorate of Customs of Albania and the Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters. In the spirit of strengthening the relations between Albania and China, both sides discussed about concretizing the implementation of the Agreement, cooperation in the field of Law Enforcement and China - Central and Eastern European Cooperation Initiative.
