The General Directorate of Customs in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Investment Council of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and the Association of the Producers organized on 31st of May 2017 a business consulting meeting on the novelties and advantages offered by the new Customs Code.
Important reforms were introduced in the last meeting of the Investment Council undertaken by the Government, such as the green channel, local customs clearance, the common transit system with Kosovo, the new Customs Code which comes into full force in June 2017. The Code is drafted in accordance with EU directives and offers a set of simplified procedures for exporting and importing businesses in order to facilitate the trade and to stimulate further the trade exchanges. The new Implementing Provisions of the Customs Code have already been drafted by the General Directorate of Customs and they shall enter into force together with the Customs Code.
Knowing the business with the opportunities and provisions of the new Customs Code is important to prepare the country for the proper implementation of customs practices. For this, GDC representatives at the consultative meeting with the business presented some of the most important aspects of the new Code reflecting on business relations with the Customs Administration, such as customs declarations, opportunities for applying for simplified procedures, custom regimes, binding tariff information, provisions on customs violations, etc.
During the meeting, it was appreciated the cooperation of the GDC with the business community and the need for periodic and institutionalized contacts and consultations between them in order to strengthen their partnership and cooperation for a safe, open and fair trade.
