The General Directorate of Customs in cooperation with the European Union Delegation in Tirana organized the ceremony of reception of 8 Mobile Position Controls (MPCs) vehicles for the Directorate of Anti-Smuggling provided by IPA instrument of EU.
This project is a continuation of the support that has been given over the years to the Albanian Customs Administration by the Delegation of the European Union. In the framework of IPA Funds during the last 6 years, the Albanian Customs has benefited about 16 million EUR in various projects in order to improve the infrastructure, logistics, information and monitoring systems.
The aim of this Contract worth EUR 696 400 is to improve the technical and operational capacity of the Directorate of Anti-Smuggling in accordance with the Customs Strategy and specified plans by providing Customs presence in high-risk areas.
Through these vehicles by using advanced instruments, it will be enabled autonomous and efficient checkpoints and it will be paid special attention not only to the fight against smuggling, but also to trade facilitation with the aim of establishing a modern system of controls and inspections in line with EU best practices.
At the ceremony of the presentation of this Project there were also attending Mr. Stephen STORK, Head of Operations of EU Delegation in Albania and other guests.
