Customs Laboratory

The Albanian Customs Laboratory was established in May 2000 and is the only laboratory in Albania that has the competence to analyze the import and excise goods in function of the Customs Administration.

The main objective of the laboratory is to carry out laboratory analyzes of samples taken from the customs houses and drafting the Certificate of Verification of the Type of Goods and its Tariff Classification.

In 2013, the Customs Laboratory has benefited from the European Union, in the framework of IPA 2011 Project, a 1.2 million EUR grant for its equipment with modern laboratory apparatus.

Also within IPA 2011 Project, it is enabled the training of laboratory staff for use of the equipments, the implementation of modern methods for analyzing the goods, as well as the implementation of the Quality Management System in compliance with the ISO IEC 17025: 2005 Standard based on best practices of European Customs Laboratories.

The laboratory has initiated the necessary accreditation procedures from the General Directorate of Accreditation and the process of accreditation is going on.
