The Group of European Customs Laboratories (GCL) was established in 1999 to promote the co-ordination and harmonisation of practices of the European Customs Laboratories.
In 2014 under Customs Program 2020, GCL was named Customs Laboratories European Network (CLEN). The mission of CLEN is to act as an advisory body of DG TAXUD on all matters pertaining to laboratories, chemicals, etc.
The Customs Laboratory, now a member of CLEN, is registered and regularly attends the Plenary Meetings and Tests of Assignment organized by CLEN. Participation in such events enhances the professionalism, the level of information exchange and expertise and it will help to harmonize our laboratory with European customs laboratories both in analytical methods and regarding the tariff classification of goods.
