Mission

The customs authorities have the main responsibility for supervising the international trade in the Republic of Albania, contributing to open and fair trade in application of the trade policies and in the other sectors of the Albanian economy affecting the market and security of the entire commercial chain. For this purpose, the customs authorities intend to protect the financial and environmental interests of the Republic of Albania from unfair and illegal trade, while supporting the legal business activity; ensuring the security and safety of the Republic of Albania and its inhabitants, as well as environment and, where necessary, in close cooperation with other authorities; maintaining the right balance between customs controls and facilitation of the legitimate trade.

Albanian Customs, for the fulfillment of its Mission, has defined the following strategic principles:

• Principle of the protection of society and financial interests of the Republic of Albania;
• Principle of supporting the competitiveness of Albanian companies; 
• The principle of further legitimate trade facilitation;
• The principle of the supply chain control and management used for the international movement of goods;
• The principle of cooperation, maintaining, developing and enhancing mutual relations between customs authorities and other governmental agencies and between customs authorities and the business community.

Vision

The vision of the Albanian Customs Administration shall be:

• in full compliance with EU standards and best practices;
• a modern, professional, impartial, honest, trustworthy and uncorrupted public institution;
• a supportive partner of the trading community and an efficient protector of the society and the supply chain.
